Joint research group, JASTEC, RIKEN, NIMS and JST, successfully created a superconductive magnet, which generates over 30T, by spirally winded HTS wires. Though many researchers consider that it is difficult to create. This result fulfills important requirements to create next generation 1.3GHz NMR (corresponds to 30.5T), which would be expected to contribute to the field of drug discovery and medical research.

15 Dec 2016	JASTEC received a letter of appreciation from QST We have been working on development and manufacturing of superconducting wire for ITER Project (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) since 2004. This time, we have received a letter of appreciation from QST (National Institutes for Quantum and Radiological Science and Technology), which is the Japan Domestic Agency of ITER Organization, for the completion of wire manufacturing and delivery. It is our great pleasure to contribute such big project of nuclear fusion energy, a common dream of human being.

Kitakyushu City Library 　 22 Jul 2015	Jastec donated science books to Kitakyushu City Library We have been doing this activity since 2013 to support children science in Kitakyushu where our wire factory is located as a part of “Kobelco regional society contribution fund” in Kobe Steel group. This year our president Miyatake visited Kitakyushu City Library on July 22nd and donated 18 books.

Pray for factory safety 　 9 Feb 2015	We visited Tonoe Shrine near our Moji factory to pray for safety during the year 2015. We made up our minds at the beginning of the year to work on　no-accident/no-disaster by all the factory members.

ITER members visited JASTEC Moji factory 　 5 Nov 2014	ITER* conductor meeting was held from 7th through 9th October 2014 at Kokura, Japan. Renew ISO9001 certification 11 Jul 2014	We have been approved to renew the ISO9001:2008 (ISO quality management system) certification, which we originally acquired in July 2005. We will continue to upgrade our quality management system in order to receive further customer satisfaction to our products/service.

Jastec received “Tamiya Award” 　 3 Jun 2014	We received the 55th Tamiya Award (Bronze prize) in establishing business base on superconductor. This award is an honorable one conferred on significant business result and/or contribution to society in Kobe Steel and its associated companies since 1960. We are encouraged by this award and will continue our efforts to provide such products/service with customer’s benefit and satisfaction.

Eco-Friendly Plant 　 6 Nov 2013	Our wire factory received a letter of appreciation from Kitakyushu-city as an “Eco-Friendly Plant” in the 2013 Eco-Techno Conference held at the West Japan General Exhibition Center on the 16th of October, 2013. This letter is given to a plant in Kitakyushu area, which is practicing excellent environmental activities under the “Eco-Action 21” (Japanese certification for environmental management). We will continue to move forward our eco-friendly manufacturing encouraged by this honorable award.

MT-23	JASTEC made a technical presentations on Magnet Technology (MT-23) in Boston, USA on July 14-19, 2013. JASTEC also opened a exhibition booth. We had many visitors and could introduce our latest achievements. 　「Abstract is shown in PDF file」

CS coil of ITER project	Japan Superconductor Technology, Inc. (JASTEC) received an order of superconducting cable for the first CS coil of ITER project from Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) in collaboration with Mitsubishi Cable Industries, Ltd. at approximately 1.8 billion yen. This superconducting cable is used for the Central Solenoid coil, which is located in the center of nuclear fusion reactor. JASTEC will supply the cable in 2013~2014. Nuclear fusion is expected as a potential future energy source, which does not discharge any CO2 nor high-level radioactive wastes. ITER is the international joint project to construct an experimental reactor in France to verify its feasibility. Supplying high-performance superconducting wires and magnets, JASTEC will continue its contribution to various fields including science & technology, healthcare and energy.

CS coil of ITER project

Japan Superconductor Technology, Inc. (JASTEC) received an order of superconducting cable
for the first CS coil of ITER project from Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) in collaboration
with Mitsubishi Cable Industries, Ltd. at approximately 1.8 billion yen.

This superconducting cable is used for the Central Solenoid coil, which is located in the center

Generating a magnetic field of 24.0T	We succeeded in generating a magnetic field of 24.0T (tesla), which set a new world’s record for the highest magnetic field with a superconducting magnet, in cooperation with a research group of NIMS (National Institute for Materials Science ) . This research was partially supported by JST (Japan Science and Technology Agency）.
